Questions to ask yourself before having children:
- Am I a selfish person?
- Will I put myself before my children?
- Will I let my issues affect my ability to parent?
- Will I put them down to make myself feel better?
- Will my pain ever be greater than their pain?
- Will I manipulate them?
- Will I be too lazy to look after them?
- Will I put my own dreams/needs/aspirations before theirs?
- Will I kill their dreams?
- Will I watch them fall at my hands, only to take credit for their successes?
I think it’s fair to say that if you could answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you’re not ready or not suited to be a parent.
